IRGC says it will pursue 'route violators' beyond Hormuz; tanker hit off UAE

2026-10-09 · shipping

The IRGC Navy said it struck the tanker Sun Shine for using an 'unauthorised' southern route and that action against violating vessels would no longer be confined to the strait, warning they would be pursued anywhere in the region and that companies cooperating with the US would be sanctioned. UKMTO reported a vessel, identified by shipping and security sources as the laden crude tanker Gem No. 2, hit by a projectile 13 nautical miles west of Al Jazeera, UAE, outside the Hormuz area; no group claimed that strike.
