Yemen's government said on Monday 5 October that its forces, backed by Saudi-led air strikes, had retaken Mocha and positions near Bab el-Mandeb including Dhubab, a day after Presidential Leadership Council head Rashad al-Alimi launched an offensive to recapture Houthi-held territory. The Saudi-led coalition said 100 fighter jets took part in the offensive's launch and destroyed 324 targets. The Houthi-run Saba agency called the reported gains 'fictitious', and JMIC's 11 October advisory said Houthi forces remained in control of Mocha and much of the territory seized in September.
